Income Tax Refund Scams
Miscreants are sending out fraudulent messages with phishing links claiming to be from Income tax department and to click on a phishing link to verify bank account details for a refund.
These messages contain a link which may redirect users to a webpage that looks similar to income tax e-filing website or upon clicking the phishing link sent by scamsters, the person might be asked to submit sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, credit card details., etc. Some scams promise hefty tax refunds and ask for upfront fees or personal information to process the refund. Fraudulent websites designed to resemble official tax agencies' sites may ask for sensitive information, such as Aadhar or PAN numbers, bank account details, or credit/debit card information.
